Background of Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion OSMEP 

Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) was established under the Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Act 2000 (publicized in the Royal Gazette on February 17, 2000) as a juristic entity and governmental office, not an official agency or state enterprise.

The Board of Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion is chaired by H. Prime Minister. However, currently the Deputy Prime Minister is appointed to be the Chairman of the Board and assumed the role in formulating policies and plans for SMEs Promotion, whereas, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Industry acts as the Chairman of Board of Executive of the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion and assume the role in supervising the operations of the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion.
